If you received a TEACH grant, you must comply with the following:
- You must serve as a full time teacher for at least four academic years within eight years after you complete or otherwise cease to be enrolled in the program(s) for which you received TEACH grant funds.
- You must perform the teaching service as a highly qualified teacher at a low-income school or educational service agency. The school or educational service agency must appear in the Teacher Cancellation Low Income directory for the year(s) you taught there.
- Your teaching service must be in a high need field, which you can check in the Teacher Shortage Area Nationwide Listing for school years up to and including 2017-18. For 2018-19 and future school years, see Teacher Shortage Areas.
- You will be asked yearly to report your progress toward fulfilling your service obligation to the US Department of Education.
If you do not meet the obligations of the service requirement, your TEACH grant will be converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
