The easiest way to compare data between schools or districts to the statewide averages is by first finding data from a school/district and then comparing these results to the statewide data that is available on the data.nysed.gov homepage. Data can be compared on-screen by opening multiple tabs in your browser or by printing the dashboard screens for individual schools or districts. In addition, these comparisons can also be done by downloading the statewide database. This database file can be opened with Microsoft Access or it can also be imported into Microsoft Excel (from Excel select "Data menu > Get Data > From Database" and then select the .mdb file of the statewide database that you downloaded from the website). Comparisons can then be made for data from schools or districts to the statewide averages which are listed in the database under the entity name "All Public Schools."
