A child may be automatically enrolled: If the child participated in SNAP, TANIF, FDPIR, Medicaid or was reported by your school as eligible for free/reduced-price meals anytime in the current school year to the NYSED, they will be automatically enrolled in the SEBT program.
When a child is reported as a student in foster status, a student in migrant family status, or a student in homeless status, they are streamlined certified for SEBT.
In some cases, if the child has not been reported by their school or district of enrollment to the NYSED as eligible for free/reduced-price meals but is income eligible and attends an NSLP approved school, they can get SEBT by filling out a simple online application with OTDA at OTDA.NY.SummerEBT.
