What is different in the new Educator Evaluation System?

The new system moves away from linking student test scores to teacher performance and puts more control in the hands of local school boards. Student performance can be included if agreed on through collective bargaining. Learning standards, are addressed based on their knowledge of class curriculum, not exams. Reviews won't be required annually and will no longer play a significant role in tenure determinations, teacher discipline, or state aid determinations. There will be two Educator Evaluation plans in effect simultaneously as the new system will be optional until June 30th, 2032, at that point, districts will be required to implement the 3012-e plan.
